Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Consumption and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 2.97%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 4.12% or 1.32 points to trade at 33.37 at the close. Meanwhile, Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) added 2.77% or 0.36 points to end at 13.35 and Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) was up 1.57% or 0.27 points to 17.52 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4), which fell 7.22% or 1.19 points to trade at 15.30 at the close. Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) declined 6.85% or 2.45 points to end at 33.31 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was down 6.26% or 1.94 points to 29.07.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 208 to 122 and 32 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.00% to 38.84.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.24% or 2.80 to $1188.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 3.76% or 1.77 to hit $45.31 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 2.62% or 4.11 to trade at $152.82 .
USD/BRL was up 0.38% to 3.3986, while EUR/BRL rose 0.68% to 3.6178.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.20% at 101.01.
