Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 2.87% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3), which rose 1.35% or 0.07 points to trade at 5.27 at the close. Meanwhile, BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3) added 1.03% or 0.31 points to end at 30.31 and Hypermarcas SA (SA:HYPE3) was up 0.91% or 0.17 points to 18.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which fell 9.30% or 0.40 points to trade at 3.90 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) declined 7.42% or 0.85 points to end at 10.61 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) was down 6.10% or 0.63 points to 9.69.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 246 to 69 and 8 ended unchanged.
Shares in Oi SA (SA:OIBR4) fell to 5-year lows; falling 9.30% or 0.40 to 3.90.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.39% to 39.88.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.24% or 2.60 to $1092.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.84% or 0.82 to hit $43.84 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 2.54% or 3.15 to trade at $127.38 .
USD/BRL was down 0.74% to 3.5095, while EUR/BRL fell 0.45% to 3.8458.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 97.69.
