Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 2.23%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3), which rose 1.25% or 0.18 points to trade at 14.60 at the close. Meanwhile, Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 0.09% or 0.02 points to end at 22.92 and Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 33.92 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3), which fell 8.33% or 0.84 points to trade at 9.25 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 5.99% or 0.23 points to end at 3.61 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) was down 5.93% or 0.61 points to 9.67.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 241 to 81 and 14 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.11% to 32.90.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.26% or 3.55 to $1342.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 3.48% or 1.71 to hit $47.40 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 3.11% or 4.40 to trade at $146.00 .
USD/BRL was down 0.11% to 3.2014, while EUR/BRL fell 0.14% to 3.6244.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 94.52.
