Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.63%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which rose 7.96% or 0.45 points to trade at 6.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 4.81% or 0.32 points to end at 6.97 and Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET3) was up 3.22% or 0.27 points to 8.66 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Vale SA (SA:VALE3), which fell 7.87% or 2.13 points to trade at 24.93 at the close. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) declined 6.57% or 0.09 points to end at 1.28 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was down 5.43% or 0.85 points to 14.81.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 168 to 109 and 10 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.61% to 32.73.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.18% or 2.10 to $1191.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.45% or 0.27 to hit $60.67 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 2.74% or 3.65 to trade at $129.68 .
USD/BRL was down 0.59% to 3.0359, while EUR/BRL rose 0.84% to 3.4452.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.13% at 94.19.
