Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Financials, Real Estate and Public Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 1.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5), which rose 4.84% or 0.65 points to trade at 14.07 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 4.17% or 0.14 points to end at 3.50 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was up 3.70% or 0.38 points to 10.66 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3), which fell 6.63% or 1.59 points to trade at 22.41 at the close. Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) declined 5.06% or 0.95 points to end at 17.83 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) was down 4.97% or 0.95 points to 18.15.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 182 to 103 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) fell to 3-years lows; falling 6.63% or 1.59 to 22.41.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 4.60% to 48.25.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.03% or 0.30 to $1134.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 6.30% or 2.85 to hit $48.07 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.14% or 0.17 to trade at $124.35 .
USD/BRL was up 1.24% to 3.6268, while EUR/BRL rose 1.52% to 4.0662.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 95.96.
