Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 1.10% to hit a new 3-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3), which rose 1.55% or 0.29 points to trade at 19.03 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) added 1.46% or 0.51 points to end at 35.37 and Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) was up 1.27% or 0.24 points to 19.08 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3), which fell 5.06% or 0.69 points to trade at 12.95 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR4) declined 4.63% or 0.57 points to end at 11.73 and Marcopolo SA (SA:POMO4) was down 4.62% or 0.11 points to 2.27.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 180 to 97 and 8 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.91% to 29.35.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.37% or 4.30 to $1167.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 2.48% or 1.41 to hit $55.52 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $126.97 .
USD/BRL was up 1.24% to 3.1365, while EUR/BRL rose 1.48% to 3.4850.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.10% at 96.38.
