Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Real Estate, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 7.32% or 1.53 points to trade at 22.43 at the close. Meanwhile, Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) added 5.47% or 0.52 points to end at 10.02 and Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) was up 3.70% or 2.00 points to 56.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3), which fell 5.12% or 1.01 points to trade at 18.72 at the close. Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) declined 4.87% or 0.760 points to end at 14.860 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was down 4.20% or 0.80 points to 18.25.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 176 to 173 and 29 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 2.01% to 32.91.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.25% or 3.35 to $1341.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 3.50% or 1.62 to hit $44.70 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.96% or 3.03 to trade at $151.77 .
USD/BRL was up 0.62% to 3.2414, while EUR/BRL rose 0.86% to 3.6423.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.07% at 95.38.
