Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.43%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were BM&FBovespa SA (SA:BVMF3), which rose 2.24% or 0.40 points to trade at 18.23 at the close. Meanwhile, Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) added 1.93% or 0.320 points to end at 16.900 and Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) was up 1.76% or 0.72 points to 41.72 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3), which fell 3.88% or 1.70 points to trade at 42.08 at the close. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) declined 3.06% or 0.210 points to end at 6.650 and Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) was down 2.73% or 0.29 points to 10.32.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 202 to 158 and 25 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) rose to 52-week highs; up 1.93% or 0.320 to 16.900.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 0.16% to 31.46.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.52% or 6.60 to $1269.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.31% or 1.16 to hit $51.45 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.42% or 0.67 to trade at $157.88 .
USD/BRL was down 0.56% to 3.1696, while EUR/BRL fell 0.65% to 3.4768.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.02% at 97.90.
