Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.33%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3), which rose 10.13% or 2.76 points to trade at 30.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) added 3.51% or 0.58 points to end at 17.10 and Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) was up 3.28% or 2.040 points to 64.200 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4), which fell 10.41% or 5.60 points to trade at 48.20 at the close. Banco Bradesco SA (SA:BBDC4) declined 4.45% or 1.28 points to end at 27.50 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was down 4.24% or 2.21 points to 49.86.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 153 to 148 and 18 ended unchanged.
Shares in Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) rose to all time highs; gaining 3.28% or 2.040 to 64.200.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.68% to 32.73.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.62% or 8.30 to $1342.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.93% or 0.81 to hit $41.11 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.85% or 1.20 to trade at $142.32 .
USD/BRL was up 1.16% to 3.2967, while EUR/BRL rose 1.21% to 3.6519.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.08% at 96.67.
