Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Financials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa declined 0.30%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Oi SA (SA:OIBR3), which rose 5.88% or 0.05 points to trade at 0.90 at the close. Meanwhile, Bradespar SA (SA:BRAP4) added 4.12% or 0.34 points to end at 8.59 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was up 2.66% or 1.05 points to 40.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3), which fell 6.09% or 1.70 points to trade at 26.20 at the close. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 4.65% or 0.12 points to end at 2.46 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was down 4.51% or 1.47 points to 31.16.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 179 to 134 and 21 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.02% to 40.26 a new 3-months low.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.46% or 18.25 to $1268.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.21% or 0.55 to hit $45.88 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 0.21% or 0.25 to trade at $121.42 .
USD/BRL was down 1.20% to 3.4864, while EUR/BRL fell 0.90% to 3.9575.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.70% at 93.72.
