Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Consumption and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.23%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Equatorial Energia SA (SA:EQTL3), which rose 4.15% or 2.12 points to trade at 53.22 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) added 3.35% or 0.69 points to end at 21.30 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was up 2.14% or 0.06 points to 2.87 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3), which fell 5.02% or 0.95 points to trade at 17.96 at the close. Lojas Renner SA (SA:LREN3) declined 3.52% or 0.95 points to end at 26.05 and Cia Energetica de Minas Gerais (SA:CMIG4) was down 3.21% or 0.29 points to 8.75.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 178 to 150 and 22 ended unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 3.83% to 33.61.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.61% or 8.15 to $1323.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 2.49% or 1.10 to hit $43.09 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.83% or 1.19 to trade at $141.38 .
USD/BRL was up 0.84% to 3.2847, while EUR/BRL rose 0.97% to 3.6102.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.30.
