Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumption, Financials and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.16%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 5.92% or 0.17 points to trade at 3.04 at the close. Meanwhile, Vale SA (SA:VALE3) added 5.74% or 1.00 points to end at 18.42 and Vale SA (SA:VALE5) was up 4.29% or 0.60 points to 14.59 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which fell 2.69% or 0.29 points to trade at 10.51 at the close. Raia Drogasil SA (SA:RADL3) declined 2.59% or 1.660 points to end at 62.320 and Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3) was down 2.06% or 1.11 points to 52.89.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 170 to 121 and 26 ended unchanged.
Shares in Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) fell to 52-week lows; falling 2.69% or 0.29 to 10.51.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 1.31% to 33.17.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.04% or 0.50 to $1327.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.02% or 0.44 to hit $42.69 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 0.17% or 0.24 to trade at $141.62 .
USD/BRL was up 0.02% to 3.2742, while EUR/BRL rose 0.04% to 3.5976.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.11% at 97.17.
