Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Public Utilities and Industrials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 6.95% or 0.23 points to trade at 3.54 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 4.91% or 0.20 points to end at 4.27 and Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4) was up 4.07% or 0.24 points to 6.14 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which fell 3.20% or 1.85 points to trade at 55.95 at the close. ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) declined 3.19% or 0.20 points to end at 6.06 and Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) was down 2.92% or 0.76 points to 25.25.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 200 to 117 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) fell to 5-year lows; falling 3.19% or 0.20 to 6.06.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 6.30% to 58.54 a new 6-months high.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.85% or 20.90 to $1152.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 1.42% or 0.63 to hit $45.11 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.77% or 2.05 to trade at $117.92 .
USD/BRL was down 4.43% to 3.9912, while EUR/BRL fell 4.03% to 4.4796.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.29% at 96.11.
