Investing.com – Brazil stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financials, Telecoms and Electric Power sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa fell 0.00%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Oi SA (SA:OIBR4), which rose 8.86% or 0.31 points to trade at 3.81 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Siderurgica Nacional SA (SA:CSNA3) added 6.02% or 0.31 points to end at 5.46 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was up 5.52% or 0.480 points to 9.180 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BM&FBovespa SA (SA:BVMF3), which fell 4.29% or 0.51 points to trade at 11.37 at the close. Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) declined 4.20% or 2.64 points to end at 60.28 and Braskem SA (SA:BRKM5) was down 3.51% or 0.56 points to 15.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 165 to 132 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in Companhia Brasileira deDistribuicao (SA:PCAR4) fell to 3-years lows; falling 4.20% or 2.64 to 60.28.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.28% to 47.23.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.10% or 12.30 to $1131.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.68% or 0.32 to hit $46.83 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.49% or 0.57 to trade at $118.25 .
USD/BRL was up 1.44% to 3.8855, while EUR/BRL rose 2.71% to 4.4425.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.94% at 94.60.
