Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Consumption, Industrials and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 2.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 19.07% or 1.77 points to trade at 11.05 at the close. Meanwhile, Localiza Rent a Car SA (SA:RENT3) added 7.88% or 2.52 points to end at 34.52 and Marfrig Alimentos SA (SA:MRFG3) was up 6.81% or 0.42 points to 6.59 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which fell 2.14% or 0.36 points to trade at 16.50 at the close. CEMIG - Companhia Energetica Minas Gerais Pref (SA:CMIG4) declined 1.20% or 0.09 points to end at 7.38 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was down 0.74% or 0.03 points to 4.01.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 214 to 148 and 37 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.09% to 37.48.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.55% or 6.45 to $1170.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 2.01% or 1.04 to hit $50.75 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.29% or 1.86 to trade at $142.57 .
USD/BRL was down 0.44% to 3.4076, while EUR/BRL fell 0.84% to 3.6529.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 100.52.
