Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Public Utilities and Consumption sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.85%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were EcoRodovias SA (SA:ECOR3), which rose 7.87% or 0.59 points to trade at 8.09 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) added 6.47% or 1.58 points to end at 26.00 and Cia de Saneamento Basico do Estado (SA:SBSP3) was up 6.33% or 1.74 points to 29.24 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which fell 8.97% or 2.72 points to trade at 27.59 at the close. Vale SA (SA:VALE5) declined 7.36% or 1.82 points to end at 22.90 and Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) was down 6.16% or 0.26 points to 3.96.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 208 to 171 and 40 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.91% to 42.58.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.09% or 1.15 to $1225.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.72% or 0.33 to hit $45.48 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 0.39% or 0.63 to trade at $160.80 .
USD/BRL was down 0.58% to 3.4205, while EUR/BRL fell 0.94% to 3.6544.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 100.41.
