Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Consumption sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.54% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 6.19% or 0.75 points to trade at 12.86 at the close. Meanwhile, Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 4.27% or 0.84 points to end at 20.51 and Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) was up 4.15% or 1.58 points to 39.68 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3), which fell 1.47% or 0.45 points to trade at 30.11 at the close. Cielo SA (SA:CIEL3) declined 0.81% or 0.27 points to end at 33.21 and CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) was down 0.25% or 0.06 points to 24.14.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 217 to 131 and 27 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cosan SA Industria e Comercio (SA:CSAN3) rose to 3-years highs; rising 4.15% or 1.58 to 39.68.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.35% to 35.26.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.01% or 0.10 to $1269.80 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.16% or 1.05 to hit $49.74 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 0.42% or 0.62 to trade at $148.32 .
USD/BRL was down 1.18% to 3.2193, while EUR/BRL fell 1.16% to 3.6080.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.03% at 96.13.
