Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Consumption and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 1.13% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3), which rose 11.00% or 3.30 points to trade at 33.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) added 10.62% or 0.36 points to end at 3.75 and BRF SA (SA:BRFS3) was up 6.47% or 3.30 points to 54.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3), which fell 15.45% or 2.71 points to trade at 14.83 at the close. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) declined 4.30% or 0.89 points to end at 19.79 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) was down 3.31% or 0.34 points to 9.92.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 187 to 101 and 19 ended unchanged.
Shares in Natura Cosmeticos SA (SA:NATU3) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 11.00% or 3.30 to 33.30. Shares in Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) fell to 3-years lows; down 15.45% or 2.71 to 14.83. Shares in Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) fell to 52-week lows; losing 4.30% or 0.89 to 19.79. Shares in Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) fell to 52-week lows; losing 3.31% or 0.34 to 9.92.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.00% to 31.42 a new 52-week low.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.30% or 17.45 to $1358.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 0.75% or 0.31 to hit $41.45 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract rose 2.01% or 2.86 to trade at $145.18 .
USD/BRL was down 1.44% to 3.2421, while EUR/BRL fell 0.60% to 3.6241.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.23% at 95.50.
