Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Electric Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa gained 0.76% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5), which rose 4.75% or 0.22 points to trade at 4.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Cia Paranaense de Energia (SA:CPLE6) added 4.39% or 1.50 points to end at 35.70 and Bbseguridad (SA:BBSE3) was up 3.82% or 1.30 points to 35.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3), which fell 2.39% or 0.21 points to trade at 8.57 at the close. CPFL Energia SA (SA:CPFE3) declined 2.08% or 0.44 points to end at 20.76 and Vale SA (SA:VALE3) was down 2.02% or 0.38 points to 18.42.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 151 to 114 and 7 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.38% to 34.45.
Gold for June delivery was up 1.20% or 14.30 to $1207.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.70% or 0.86 to hit $51.66 a barrel, while the May US coffee C contract fell 0.90% or 1.23 to trade at $135.20 .
USD/BRL was up 0.63% to 3.0772, while EUR/BRL rose 0.05% to 3.2607.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 99.67.
