Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Electric Power and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 0.58%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3), which rose 5.96% or 2.10 points to trade at 37.35 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) added 2.59% or 0.45 points to end at 17.85 and MRV Engenharia e Participacoes SA (SA:MRVE3) was up 2.56% or 0.22 points to 8.81 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3), which fell 8.57% or 0.890 points to trade at 9.500 at the close. Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) declined 8.38% or 1.38 points to end at 15.09 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was down 2.58% or 0.16 points to 6.03.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 153 to 117 and 9 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 6.43% to 42.73.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.08% or 0.90 to $1070.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 1.25% or 0.54 to hit $42.50 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 0.74% or 0.93 to trade at $125.70 .
USD/BRL was up 0.14% to 3.7483, while EUR/BRL fell 0.03% to 3.9759.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 99.86.
