Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Electric Power, Financials and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.52% to hit a new 3-years high.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Vale SA (SA:VALE5), which rose 4.43% or 0.76 points to trade at 17.92 at the close. Meanwhile, Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) added 4.30% or 0.86 points to end at 20.86 and ALL America Latina Logistica SA (SA:RUMO3) was up 3.01% or 0.200 points to 6.850 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which fell 3.52% or 0.44 points to trade at 12.06 at the close. Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) declined 2.37% or 0.400 points to end at 16.500 and Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) was down 2.24% or 0.52 points to 22.68.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 182 to 180 and 34 ended unchanged.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 4.96% to 29.90 a new 52-week low.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.25% or 3.15 to $1266.75 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 2.35% or 1.22 to hit $50.60 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract fell 1.11% or 1.76 to trade at $156.12 .
USD/BRL was down 0.85% to 3.1427, while EUR/BRL fell 1.26% to 3.4341.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.45% at 98.31.
