Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemicals, Construction & Materials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.69% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ageas (BRU:AGES), which rose 0.67% or 0.245 points to trade at 36.675 at the close. Meanwhile, Elia (BRU:ELI) added 0.62% or 0.260 points to end at 42.460 and DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB) was up 0.32% or 0.110 points to 34.260 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which fell 8.87% or 0.71 points to trade at 7.29 at the close. Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) declined 4.74% or 4.51 points to end at 90.62 and Delhaize Group (BRU:DELB) was down 2.97% or 2.29 points to 74.84.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 123 to 31 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) fell to all time lows; losing 8.87% or 0.71 to 7.29. Shares in Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.74% or 4.51 to 90.62.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.87% or 21.20 to $1152.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 0.63% or 0.28 to hit $44.76 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 0.93% or 0.45 to trade at $48.20 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.55% to 1.1246, while EUR/GBP rose 0.56% to 0.7377.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.43% at 95.98.
