Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.53%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BRU:KBC), which rose 0.44% or 0.280 points to trade at 63.770 at the close. Meanwhile, Elia (BRU:ELI) added 0.39% or 0.145 points to end at 37.755 and Ageas (BRU:AGES) was up 0.19% or 0.075 points to 39.060 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which fell 20.08% or 3.31 points to trade at 13.19 at the close. NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB) declined 2.63% or 0.78 points to end at 28.85 and Umicore NV (BRU:UMI) was down 2.48% or 0.96 points to 37.99.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 105 to 62 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) fell to 52-week lows; down 20.08% or 3.31 to 13.19. Shares in Ageas (BRU:AGES) rose to 5-year highs; up 0.19% or 0.075 to 39.060.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.27% or 3.00 to $1107.10 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.98% or 1.79 to hit $43.17 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 2.99% or 1.52 to trade at $49.49 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1038, while EUR/GBP rose 0.33% to 0.7091.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 97.28.
