Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Utilities, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 1.11%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB), which rose 0.18% or 0.20 points to trade at 111.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB) added 0.11% or 0.08 points to end at 75.53 and UCB (BR:UCB) was down 0.19% or 0.13 points to 69.84 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which fell 2.84% or 1.17 points to trade at 39.82 at the close. Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) declined 2.46% or 0.80 points to end at 31.51 and Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) was down 2.21% or 0.33 points to 14.40.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 85 to 51 and 9 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) rose to 5-year highs; rising 0.18% or 0.20 to 111.85.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.20% or 2.65 to $1360.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 3.73% or 1.55 to hit $40.05 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 3.38% or 1.47 to trade at $42.06 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.01% to 1.1175, while EUR/GBP rose 0.22% to 0.8466.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 95.61.
