Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Software & Computers, Consumer Services and Chemicals sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 fell 0.91%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ), which rose 0.53% or 0.10 points to trade at 19.46 at the close. Meanwhile, Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) added 0.45% or 0.24 points to end at 53.25 and Bekaert (D) (BRU:BEKB) was up 0.19% or 0.05 points to 25.93 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Delhaize Group (BRU:DELB), which fell 2.68% or 2.35 points to trade at 85.27 at the close. Solvay (BRU:SOLB) declined 1.97% or 2.75 points to end at 137.00 and KBC (BRU:KBC) was down 1.55% or 0.930 points to 59.070.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 122 to 50 and 5 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.39% or 4.70 to $1196.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.53% or 0.30 to hit $56.09 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.36% or 0.23 to trade at $63.09 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.47% to 1.0732, while EUR/GBP rose 0.01% to 0.7196.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.46% at 98.09.
