Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Utilities and Healthcare sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.07%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 1.74% or 0.71 points to trade at 41.75 at the close. Meanwhile, NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 0.98% or 0.41 points to end at 42.13 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 0.69% or 0.35 points to 50.90 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which fell 2.11% or 0.59 points to trade at 27.64 at the close. Elia (BR:ELI) declined 1.11% or 0.535 points to end at 47.855 and Proximus NV (BR:PROX) was down 1.02% or 0.29 points to 28.27.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 77 to 57 and 10 ended unchanged.
Shares in Umicore NV (BR:UMI) rose to 5-year highs; up 0.69% or 0.35 to 50.90.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.23% or 3.05 to $1332.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 0.91% or 0.42 to hit $45.52 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.49% or 0.23 to trade at $46.73 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.60% to 1.1010, while EUR/GBP rose 0.53% to 0.8398.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.59% at 97.13.
