Investing.com – Belgium stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Financials and Utilities sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 declined 0.61%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 1.27% or 0.60 points to trade at 47.97 at the close. Meanwhile, NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) added 1.09% or 0.44 points to end at 40.62 and Elia (BR:ELI) was up 0.59% or 0.270 points to 45.740 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Umicore NV (BR:UMI), which fell 4.79% or 2.81 points to trade at 55.91 at the close. KBC (BR:KBC) declined 2.32% or 1.240 points to end at 52.240 and Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BR:COLR) was down 0.63% or 0.32 points to 49.97.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 89 to 65 and 9 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.17% or 2.15 to $1265.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $50.63 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.21 to trade at $51.59 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.58% to 1.0865, while EUR/GBP fell 0.26% to 0.8896.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 98.77.
