Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Construction & Materials, Basic Materials and Chemicals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 2.85%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Etablissementen Fr Colruyt NV (BRU:COLR), which rose 4.75% or 2.00 points to trade at 44.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) added 4.58% or 4.20 points to end at 96.00 and Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL) was up 4.42% or 0.34 points to 8.02 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB), which rose 0.41% or 0.145 points to trade at 35.545 at the close. Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) added 0.82% or 0.42 points to end at 51.50 and Ackermans V.Haaren (BRU:ACKB) was up 1.00% or 1.30 points to 131.95.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 126 to 35 and 5 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.32% or 3.60 to $1133.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.55% or 1.16 to hit $46.70 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.15% or 1.51 to trade at $49.65 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.30% to 1.1178, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.7376.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.23% at 96.26.
