Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Utilities and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 2.75%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Telenet Group (BR:TNET), which rose 4.45% or 1.74 points to trade at 40.83 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 3.85% or 0.52 points to end at 14.04 and Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) was up 3.76% or 4.15 points to 114.40 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which fell 0.85% or 0.24 points to trade at 27.91 at the close. Ageas (BR:AGES) added 1.32% or 0.405 points to end at 31.045 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BR:COFB) was up 1.39% or 1.45 points to 106.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 117 to 25 and 10 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.69% or 9.15 to $1327.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.72% or 1.30 to hit $49.15 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 2.74% or 1.35 to trade at $50.61 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.34% to 1.1103, while EUR/GBP fell 0.77% to 0.8229.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.40% at 95.81.
