Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Pharma & Bio-technology and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 2.02% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Delhaize Group (BRU:DELB), which rose 4.19% or 3.18 points to trade at 79.15 at the close. Meanwhile, UCB (BRU:UCB) added 2.93% or 1.99 points to end at 69.97 and Befimmo-Sicafi (BRU:BEFBb) was up 2.78% or 1.580 points to 58.320 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DIeteren SA (BRU:IETB), which fell 0.85% or 0.275 points to trade at 32.025 at the close. Elia (BRU:ELI) added 0.53% or 0.200 points to end at 37.875 and Proximus NV (BRU:PROX) was up 0.85% or 0.28 points to 33.09.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 135 to 31 and 5 ended unchanged.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.17% or 2.00 to $1155.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 0.47% or 0.25 to hit $52.99 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.03% or 0.01 to trade at $58.98 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 1.16% to 1.1029, while EUR/GBP fell 1.11% to 0.7110.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.88% at 96.80.
