Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Pharma & Bio-technology, Healthcare and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 1.87% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 6.00% or 4.29 points to trade at 75.81 at the close. Meanwhile, Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) added 3.80% or 3.77 points to end at 102.90 and KBC (BR:KBC) was up 2.06% or 1.130 points to 55.990 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Proximus NV (BR:PROX), which rose 0.22% or 0.07 points to trade at 31.90 at the close. Telenet Group (BR:TNET) added 0.41% or 0.21 points to end at 51.12 and Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) was up 0.45% or 0.03 points to 7.29.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 114 to 44 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in UCB (BR:UCB) rose to all time highs; gaining 6.00% or 4.29 to 75.81.
Gold for December delivery was up 1.01% or 11.80 to $1177.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 6.27% or 2.71 to hit $45.91 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 4.97% or 2.33 to trade at $49.13 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.26% to 1.1074, while EUR/GBP rose 0.06% to 0.7223.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.39% at 96.65.
