Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials, Consumer Goods and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 1.66%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BR:KBC), which rose 5.00% or 2.500 points to trade at 52.500 at the close. Meanwhile, ING Groep NV (AS:ING) added 3.92% or 0.410 points to end at 10.880 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was up 2.84% or 2.46 points to 88.95 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were UCB (BR:UCB), which fell 7.55% or 5.13 points to trade at 62.79 at the close. Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) declined 0.60% or 0.310 points to end at 50.940 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) was up 0.27% or 0.07 points to 24.48.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 109 to 35 and 9 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 1.80% or 22.55 to $1228.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.92% or 0.44 to hit $48.52 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.41% or 0.20 to trade at $48.55 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.71% to 1.1141, while EUR/GBP fell 1.64% to 0.7620.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.40% at 95.61.
