Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Technology, Beverage and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 1.35%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BRU:ABI), which rose 2.23% or 2.50 points to trade at 114.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BRU:GBLB) added 2.01% or 1.53 points to end at 77.65 and Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) was up 2.02% or 1.01 points to 50.97 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Bekaert (D) (BRU:BEKB), which fell 0.63% or 0.16 points to trade at 25.19 at the close. GDF Suez (PARIS:GSZ) declined 0.23% or 0.04 points to end at 18.73 and Cofinimmo-Sicafi (BRU:COFB) was up 0.14% or 0.15 points to 110.75.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 129 to 44 and 5 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 1.34% or 16.10 to $1184.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.00% or 0.49 to hit $48.38 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.43% or 0.81 to trade at $55.60 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.0821, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.7308.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.71% at 98.31.
