Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Beverage, Consumer Goods and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 1.27%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BRU:BEKB), which rose 2.66% or 0.67 points to trade at 25.65 at the close. Meanwhile, Telenet Group (BRU:TNET) added 2.57% or 1.31 points to end at 52.22 and Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BRU:ABI) was up 2.36% or 2.26 points to 97.87 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Delta Lloyd (AMS:DLL), which fell 0.92% or 0.09 points to trade at 9.36 at the close. bpost NV (BRU:BPOST) declined 0.60% or 0.13 points to end at 21.65 and Solvay SA (BRU:SOLB) was down 0.29% or 0.30 points to 104.40.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 104 to 52 and 4 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.48% or 16.60 to $1104.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.46% or 0.67 to hit $45.27 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.71% or 0.84 to trade at $48.67 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.42% to 1.1155, while EUR/GBP fell 0.23% to 0.7261.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.46% at 96.28.
