Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Chemicals, Basic Materials and Consumer Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.99% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Solvay SA (BR:SOLB), which rose 3.60% or 3.70 points to trade at 106.45 at the close. Meanwhile, Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) added 3.36% or 3.06 points to end at 94.19 and Delta Lloyd (AS:DLL) was up 3.18% or 0.23 points to 7.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Elia (BR:ELI), which fell 0.47% or 0.205 points to trade at 43.030 at the close. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) declined 0.46% or 0.60 points to end at 131.15 and KBC (BR:KBC) was down 0.26% or 0.140 points to 54.080.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 115 to 38 and 2 ended unchanged.
Shares in Delhaize Group (BR:DELB) rose to all time highs; rising 3.36% or 3.06 to 94.19.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.20% or 2.10 to $1071.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 0.47% or 0.20 to hit $42.67 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.99% or 0.46 to trade at $45.66 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.0628, while EUR/GBP fell 0.39% to 0.7028.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 99.76.
