Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Basic Materials and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 rose 0.69% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which rose 2.11% or 0.81 points to trade at 39.44 at the close. Meanwhile, Proximus NV (BR:PROX) added 2.07% or 0.59 points to end at 29.15 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 1.89% or 0.85 points to 45.74 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which fell 0.44% or 0.230 points to trade at 52.000 at the close. UCB (BR:UCB) declined 0.40% or 0.26 points to end at 64.52 and bpost NV (BR:BPOST) was down 0.21% or 0.05 points to 24.18.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 100 to 48 and 11 ended unchanged.
Shares in NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB) rose to 3-years highs; rising 2.11% or 0.81 to 39.44.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.24% or 2.90 to $1220.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.04% or 0.02 to hit $49.54 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.02% or 0.01 to trade at $49.75 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.18% to 1.1174, while EUR/GBP rose 0.51% to 0.7630.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.12% at 95.29.
