Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.65%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Groupe Bruxelles Lambert SA (BR:GBLB), which rose 1.66% or 1.28 points to trade at 78.28 at the close. Meanwhile, Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) added 1.40% or 1.55 points to end at 112.35 and Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX) was up 1.30% or 0.41 points to 32.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Elia (BR:ELI), which fell 0.01% or 0.005 points to trade at 47.095 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) added 0.02% or 0.01 points to end at 23.20 and Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) was up 0.15% or 0.070 points to 46.785.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 96 to 44 and 10 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.51% or 6.85 to $1355.65 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.95% or 1.38 to hit $48.17 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 1.93% or 0.96 to trade at $50.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.42% to 1.1337, while EUR/GBP fell 0.40% to 0.8625.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.45% at 94.26.
