Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Healthcare and Technology sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.56%.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 3.14% or 1.150 points to trade at 37.790 at the close. Meanwhile, Anheuser-Busch Inbev SA (BR:ABI) added 1.47% or 1.60 points to end at 110.75 and UCB (BR:UCB) was up 1.09% or 0.74 points to 68.55 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were NV Bekaert SA (BR:BEKB), which fell 0.98% or 0.35 points to trade at 35.70 at the close. Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) declined 0.87% or 0.76 points to end at 86.64 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was down 0.70% or 0.29 points to 42.05.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 86 to 59 and 8 ended unchanged.
Gold for June delivery was down 0.43% or 5.20 to $1218.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.73% or 0.27 to hit $36.52 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 1.01% or 0.39 to trade at $38.28 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.02% to 1.1391, while EUR/GBP fell 0.36% to 0.7979.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.05% at 94.53.
