Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Healthcare, Technology and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.52% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were UCB (BR:UCB), which rose 8.93% or 6.14 points to trade at 74.86 at the close. Meanwhile, Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG) added 0.83% or 0.400 points to end at 48.450 and Umicore NV (BR:UMI) was up 0.22% or 0.12 points to 54.53 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ontex Group (BR:ONTEX), which fell 1.68% or 0.55 points to trade at 31.95 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) declined 0.74% or 0.17 points to end at 23.52 and KBC (BR:KBC) was down 0.67% or 0.340 points to 50.620.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 84 to 50 and 9 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.39% or 5.25 to $1348.45 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.52% or 1.12 to hit $45.61 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 2.51% or 1.18 to trade at $48.15 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.30% to 1.1195, while EUR/GBP rose 0.57% to 0.8693.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 95.50.
