Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities, Basic Materials and Healthcare sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 gained 0.13% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were Ageas (BR:AGES), which rose 0.91% or 0.290 points to trade at 32.045 at the close. Meanwhile, Engie SA (PA:ENGIE) added 0.72% or 0.10 points to end at 14.72 and Telenet Group (BR:TNET) was up 0.40% or 0.17 points to 43.41 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which fell 0.54% or 0.265 points to trade at 48.500 at the close. Ackermans V.Haaren (BR:ACKB) declined 0.48% or 0.55 points to end at 114.30 and Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD) was down 0.20% or 0.04 points to 22.04.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 86 to 54 and 8 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.21% or 2.80 to $1330.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.22% or 0.98 to hit $45.13 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.39% or 0.65 to trade at $47.48 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.02% to 1.1153, while EUR/GBP fell 0.27% to 0.8377.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.15% at 95.73.
