Investing.com – Belgium stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Pharma & Bio-technology, Healthcare and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Brussels, the BEL 20 added 0.13% to hit a new 1-month high.
The best performers of the session on the BEL 20 were KBC (BR:KBC), which rose 1.71% or 0.900 points to trade at 53.530 at the close. Meanwhile, UCB (BR:UCB) added 1.50% or 1.05 points to end at 70.88 and Ageas (BR:AGES) was up 0.69% or 0.275 points to 39.945 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DIeteren SA (BR:IETB), which fell 2.17% or 0.645 points to trade at 29.045 at the close. bpost NV (BR:BPOST) declined 1.61% or 0.36 points to end at 22.29 and Solvay SA (BR:SOLB) was down 0.98% or 1.00 points to 100.85.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Brussels Stock Exchange by 79 to 77 and 5 ended unchanged.
Shares in Ageas (BR:AGES) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 0.69% or 0.275 to 39.945.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.31% or 3.60 to $1166.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.78% or 0.35 to hit $44.25 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.14 to trade at $47.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1057, while EUR/GBP rose 0.04% to 0.7197.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.33% at 96.86.
