Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the A-REITs, Industrials and Energy sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.40%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Asaleo Care (AX:AHY), which rose 7.97% or 0.110 points to trade at 1.490 at the close. Meanwhile, Altium Ltd (AX:ALU) added 5.62% or 0.500 points to end at 9.400 and St Barbara Ltd (AX:SBM) was up 5.46% or 0.160 points to 3.090 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were BWP Trust (AX:BWP), which fell 7.16% or 0.255 points to trade at 3.305 at the close. Select Harvests Ltd (AX:SHV) declined 6.69% or 0.450 points to end at 6.280 and Aconex Ltd (AX:ACX) was down 5.99% or 0.415 points to 6.515.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 587 to 493 and 328 ended unchanged.
Shares in Altium Ltd (AX:ALU) rose to all time highs; gaining 5.62% or 0.500 to 9.400.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 2.37% to 12.865.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.17% or 2.25 to $1327.35 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 0.25% or 0.12 to hit $47.26 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 0.30% or 0.15 to trade at $49.52 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.28% to 0.7639, while AUD/JPY rose 0.18% to 76.72.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 94.59.
