Investing.com – Australia stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Metals & Mining, Resources and Materials sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 lost 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Ten Network Holdings Ltd (ASX:TEN), which rose 6.00% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.265 at the close. Meanwhile, Paladin Energy Ltd (ASX:PDN) added 5.36% or 0.015 points to end at 0.295 and Regis Resources Ltd (ASX:RRL) was up 4.89% or 0.055 points to 1.180 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Myer Holdings Ltd (ASX:MYR), which fell 5.45% or 0.075 points to trade at 1.300 at the close. Senex Energy Ltd (ASX:SXY) declined 4.84% or 0.015 points to end at 0.295 and Transpacific Industries Group Ltd (ASX:TPI) was down 4.29% or 0.035 points to 0.780.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 509 to 462 and 207 ended unchanged.
Shares in Myer Holdings Ltd (ASX:MYR) fell to all time lows; down 5.45% or 0.075 to 1.300.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 2.25% to 17.426.
Gold for August delivery was up 0.15% or 1.80 to $1182.20 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.98% or 0.59 to hit $60.17 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.77% or 0.50 to trade at $64.61 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.39% to 0.7725, while AUD/JPY fell 0.29% to 95.44.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 95.24.
