Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrials, Healthcare and IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Regis Healthcare Ltd (AX:REG), which rose 6.32% or 0.280 points to trade at 4.710 at the close. Meanwhile, Metcash Ltd (AX:MTS) added 4.31% or 0.080 points to end at 1.935 and Blackmores Ltd (AX:BKL) was up 4.21% or 5.720 points to 141.490 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were CSR Ltd (AX:CSR), which fell 3.85% or 0.150 points to trade at 3.750 at the close. Boral Ltd. (AX:BLD) declined 3.76% or 0.245 points to end at 6.275 and Mesoblast Ltd (AX:MSB) was down 3.80% or 0.045 points to 1.140.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 511 to 486 and 374 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 0.98% to 19.865.
Gold for August delivery was down 0.48% or 6.15 to $1285.95 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.68% or 0.34 to hit $49.62 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.81% or 0.41 to trade at $50.24 a barrel.
AUD/USD was up 0.15% to 0.7469, while AUD/JPY rose 0.58% to 77.95.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.07% at 93.61.
