Investing.com – Australia stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the IT, Metals & Mining and Resources sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 added 0.11%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Ardent Leisure Group (AX:AAD), which rose 14.00% or 0.350 points to trade at 2.850 at the close. Meanwhile, Isentia Group Ltd (AX:ISD) added 13.99% or 0.435 points to end at 3.545 and Sirtex Medical Ltd (AX:SRX) was up 12.05% or 3.745 points to 34.825 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Blackmores Ltd (AX:BKL), which fell 18.59% or 29.900 points to trade at 130.950 at the close. Mcmillan Shakespeare Ltd (AX:MMS) declined 10.61% or 1.555 points to end at 13.095 and A2 Milk Company Ltd (AX:A2M) was down 6.39% or 0.140 points to 2.050.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Australia Stock Exchange by 562 to 541 and 314 ended unchanged.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was down 3.71% to 12.339.
Gold for December delivery was down 0.38% or 5.05 to $1341.05 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October fell 1.39% or 0.67 to hit $47.43 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract fell 1.16% or 0.58 to trade at $49.38 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.16% to 0.7603, while AUD/JPY fell 0.03% to 76.32.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 94.64.
