Most analysts have been expecting a record crop in 2024. What was not strange as serious frost couldn't force it to cross 300... By some w-guys what's going on now is unprecedented, assuming last 300 years or so... Records continue today and some w-guys project continuation into May, what may correlated with the prediction (updated) for 25th cycle peak to happen around June. The one may not know how and where those high temps affected specific coffee areas and to which degree and so, how meaningful it's gonna be if at all. But the coverage (high temps wise, days and nights, continents and origins) is ... huge. So, if for instance, Vietnam will be considered taking on a chin more than previously evaluated, it will be a lot of sense to extrapolate towards Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia (SEA), India, Africa, CA, Islands, etc. Those are all origins, with different degree of importance for sure, but not when you're trying to look at combined possible reduction. Same Cote d'Ivoire supposed to produce 1.3mb of coffee, Thailand - about 750kb of coffee, etc.

Nobody is talking about wiping out the crops, etc. But some potential reduction, a specially, if Vietnam will take more on the chin, may be reasonably absorbed by the market as high temps covered almost all origins. Yes, extent is unknown, but who's gonna send the experts to inspect all origins ? Nobody... The adjustments are gonna be done (IF !!!) basing on weather stations data, presented by respectful services.

I don't know the physiology of R plants but, looking at some photos of plantations in Vietnam, it will certainly affect plants that will produce in 25 (if comparable with A). No wonder prices have risen like a frost in Brazil, there the defoliation due to sunburn and drought apparently resembles a frost.

If, due to weather anomalies, A+R combined will show 5mb more of a drop to already projected by USDA (based on Vietnam, Indonesia, India, SE small producers, Mexico, CA, Islands - a lot of origins) and if to add 3mb of added consumption for 2024 to those 5mb, additional 8mb will need to be deducted from the general balance. The easiest way would be to translate it into the reduction of ECF stocks :) - it will not look nice ... :) :) :) ...

I think that Judy Ganes decided to go there to inspect because the internal rumors are that damage may be bigger and it may affect next season and extent can be meaningful, etc. Otherwise why going ? Initially, next season supposed to be a good one... But if, somehow, it was affected, (flowering, etc) it would support R and her clients would better know it now :) :) :) !
