give it a year. more supply of apartments and office converted condos coming online. the price will slowly go down if fed rates stay elevated
Weeks before the pandemic lumber was 258 it is now 505...since then the average house has doubled and land went up 120%....no wonder houses are still expensive.

it's time to buy because there are a lot of forest fires in Canada which increases the rarity and must raise the price

A fire in the Canadian Shield wouldn't effect lumber prices in the least. Most timber comes from Western Canada.

Hello, Can you please tell me why the pepperstone lumber CFD price has become so disconnected from lumber futures price?

Lumber has formed a bullish wedge pattern that hints at an upside breakout soon. However, I don't see any feasible econimic justification as to WHY Lumber would want to "break" to the upside.

Lumber crash will allow many to build much cheaper but land is scarce.
There is a 10-15% correction on housing prices in Florida going on right now. Gun- shy buyers are going to sit for a while. Raising interest rates won't help things either.

I wrote sometime back in August, after most of the downside has already occurred, that remaining downside will be increasingly gradual and ASYMPTOTIC in nature. The ASYMPTOTE will be the horizontal line located somewhere indide the longstanding traditional trading range of the days past, which is around 200-400. It's exactly what was supposed to happen once supply lines were fixed and demand was moderated by higher rates. So if you look at the year long time price chart you'll see an inverse exponential function as this commodity says goodbye to non traditional dislocations.

This can only move downward. Hardwoods are all sinking in price. If black walnut, red oak and mahogany have all sunk to the bottom, there is no reason to expect construction grade pine to hold its own with raising interest borrowing rates on new homeowners.
