When you look at the daily chart there is a definite pennant forming here. Looking at the pattern we are in for a slow couple of months as it bounces between the resistance and support. My guess that this will continue till the December Fed meeting or some other world event takes precedence...http://invst.ly/2h9so

I see what looks like a very large bull flag on the daily...but my guidance says bull flags should be 20 trading sessions or less and only 4 points (not 6)...so unsure. I see what may be a pennant on a 15 min chart. I'm just learning this stuff so not criticizing just sharing my thoughts.

Odd Commodity...can't let technical details get in the way of those patterns! ;-) It's so refreshing to see people getting educated in pattern trading and calling out inconsistencies. I would much rather have my *identified patterns discredited than go on pretending that something is what it isn't. This pattern stuff is not for the faint hearted. You have to know your ***..so many details. Get it right and it's money! Get it wrong and you think your pattern failed...which was likely never a pattern to begin with. Great stuff. Just went and looked up some info on Flags again. Let's stay on top of this stuff and help each other. Bravo! bobstrader, please don't take offense to this post. This forum could become something much more than just bantering between bulls/bears on gold. Hopefully, we can educate each other on the finer points of pattern trading to help us beat the odds that are working against us for success. BTW, Odd...what book did Corey suggest? I'd like to order one!

Hey Charting, yes that sounds like a plan. I'm new to technical analysis (I just started trading in February) so I'm never calling anyone out here but just trying to get smarter/better. Corey, Duck, and some others on here are great inspiration/motivation. I was reading How To Make Money in Stocks by William Oneil but not really feeling it. It's really good and everything but just old school thinking to some extent. Corey suggested 'Swing Trading' by Jon D Markman, and it is very accessible and practical...pretty much exactly what I was looking for so far. I'm only 1/3 thru but I'd recommend at this point! Feel free to call me out on anything that you disagree with, I'm not about ego. I just want to always progress.

Adam what does that mean. Is that going up to 1350-55 first and then down to 1320-30 and then again 1380. Or this is the range it will be trading in coming week between 1330-1350 ?

Trump wins, FED hikes rates to take him down, American economy goes down. Gold will fly. . Clinton wins, FED can't hike the rates, USD bubble burst, American economy goes down. Gold will fly
