Dmitry, Americans don't wish to hurt the Russian people. However, Putin annexed part of a country without its consent. So sanctions seem to be the most reasonable response. Since Putin seems to have been partly motivated to invade the Crimea to gain popularity, perhaps if Russians disapproved of his actions, then Putin would perhaps withdraw if he cares for the Russian people.

In Russia prices grows very rapidly, while salaries are kept the same. Old people, especially those, who had won the 2nd World War are dieing, cos of social payments are incredibly low. The government cannot support them such fast, and react in this situation. Mr. Obama is killing people. He cannot just simply bomb Russia like Iraq, he is killing with sanctions. He wants to punish Putin? Putin is one of the richest man in the world. So, think twice when you say God Bless America. . I just don't understand why you so proud when people are dieing, when people in outer world going worst, when daddy Sam successfully "punishes" weak countries who cannot reply?.. Ask your self, if Russia is such weak, and what if Russia will reply?

Putin has a lot of work do, if he want to get Russia out from this problem, and that is a consequence for his acts.
